Shortly after Stadium High School turns 100, Marie Aitken will turn 103.
Born Marie Egan, the Seattle resident is the oldest living alum that the school knows of.
She graduated in 1922 after singing in every production and concert she could, her daughter, Kathleen Russell, said.
After school, Marie married Walter Brix, the brother of Olympic athlete, movie actor and fellow Stadium alum Herman Brix. Walter worked for logging mills, and the family moved all over the Northwest for work. Marie would sing in choirs wherever they went, and her daughter recalls that she sang on a radio program in Portland.
After Walter died in 1954, Marie married B. Thomas Aitken, a New Jersey banker. She returned to Washington upon his death.
The centenarian is the mother of two, grandmother to four, great-grandmother to six, and great-great-grandmother of one.
