Douglas Chanthabouly spotted Samnang Kok on Wednesday morning in the 300 hallway of Foss High School and walked up to him, according to charging documents.
Chanthabouly raised his hand, pointed a gun at Kok and said, Whats up? Chanthabouly, 18, then fired one shot at Koks face, charging documents filed in the case state.
Kok fell to the floor. Chanthabouly stood over Kok and fired two more shots at Kok, then waved the gun at several witnesses and fled the school. Chanthabouly was taken into custody about two hours later a short distance from the school.
The details in the just-filed court documents offer a little more insight into the deadly shooting at Foss just before 7:30 a.m. Chanthabouly has been booked on first-degree murder and is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today.
During an interview with detectives, Chanthabouly admitted he had shot Kok, 17. He said he didnt know Kok but knew of him. Other witnesses have said the two were acquaintances.
Chanthabouly did not offer a motive for the shooting.
I cant tell you why, he told investigators, according to court documents. I dont want it in the news.
