I was appalled to read about the lawsuit filed by Soundbuilt Homes and the owners of the North Shore Golf Course (TNT, 8-23).

I do not live on the golf course or even close to it. But I serve on the board of directors for Save-NETacoma. This isn’t about a lot of wealthy people whining; this is about open spaces, overcrowding of schools and the quality of life.

Why didn’t the owners of the golf course accept the other offers they received to keep land as a golf course?

They have reaped the benefits from this course for years, thanks to the community playing golf there. Now, when times are tough, they have decided the more money the better.

Shame on them. They should sell this property as a golf course and let it remain a golf course for everyone to enjoy for years to come.

RICHLAND -- Richland police arrested Alison Lambie, 30, of Richland, early Sunday after her 2004 Dodge Durango ended up in the rough near the 18th hole of the Columbia Point Golf Course.

Lambie reportedly was driving south on George Washington Way at Columbia Point just after midnight when her Dodge SUV rear-ended another vehicle stopped at a red light, then caromed off a second car while apparently trying to leave the accident scene.

Officers said Lambie, who police said appeared to be highly intoxicated, was found in the Dodge where it slammed into a tree on the golf course's back nine.
