I am concerned about the viability of both Hillary Clinton and John McCain as presidential qualifiers. Neither of them seems to have had their staffs look closely at their proposals to suspend the federal excise tax on gasoline for the summer travel season. One could assume that they have both suspended their thinking in regard to this idea. Worse yet, McCain has openly stated that he does not understand economics.
Thomas Friedman noted recently (column, 5-1): “It is great to see that we finally have some national unity on energy policy. Unfortunately, the unifying idea is so ridiculous, so unworthy of the people aspiring to lead our nation, it takes your breath away.”
Based on the various commentators’ observations, it seems that we are being asked to elect an individual who would be even more disastrous to our country than the current occupant of the Oval Office.
