In his first appearance in the Northwest in nearly 10 years, internationally acclaimed artist Chuck Close will speak at the Pantages Theater with poet Bob Holman. The location has been changed from the Rialto Theater, due to wheelchair accessibility for Close.

Close, a former resident of Everett and Tacoma, has had a successful 40-year career as an artist, making his name with large-scale paintings replicating photographs of famous artists, writers and musicians, as well as the photographs themselves and photogravures, daguerreotypes and tapestries.

His appearance is in conjunction with his current exhibition “A Couple of Ways of Doing Something” at the Tacoma Art Museum, featuring his collaborations with New York Bowery Club poet Bob Holman.

At the Pantages Theater at 2 p.m. today, Close and Holman will speak about their creative process, with Holman also reading his poetry.

Tickets are $15, $10 for TAM members and $5 at the door for students; 901 Broadway, Tacoma.
