Erika Cranmer should be as ashamed of herself. Comparing state Senate candidate Debi Srail to the Nazis, as Cranmer did (letter, 10-27), is appalling. We should all expect an officer of the Pierce County Republican Party to avoid such reprehensible comparisons. As a person who knows Deb Srail and is from a Jewish family, this is terrible and unacceptable.
Mike Carrell overwhelmingly votes with, and is supported by, a powerful Washington lobby that opposes meaningful reform requiring coverage of preventive health care. That includes mammograms and other life-saving cancer screenings. This lobby, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, has consistently fought bills mandating preventive care, and it gave Carrell a gold star rating of 92.
In addition to claims about his record on the environment and education, Carrell says that he believes our health-care system is “broken.” But he votes in favor of a group that opposes meaningful reform. No smart, informed voter who knows the value of “truth and democracy” should vote for him.
