SPANAWAY: Bethel High team to go to national history contest

THE NEWS TRIBUNE

A team of Bethel High School students has qualified to compete in a National History Day contest next week at the University of Maryland.

Shelby Woods, Emily Molstad, Manny Estacio, Michael Gant and Roger Baldwin won the “senior group exhibit” category for their project, “The ACLU: Defending the Individual Since 1920.”

The team qualified at the Washington State History Day contest held in April at Green River Community College. Students were asked to research someone in history whose decisions ignited a change or contributed to an event or cause, according to a news release.
