Re: “Maybe next time, church can examine its own demons” (Leonard Pitts Jr. column, 6-28).
I was amazed at just how intolerant Pitts is when he disagrees with someone or some group. I can’t believe that the best he can give is to mock those he disagrees with. This is an educated man who makes his living telling others how to think, and he writes like a run-of-the-mill buffoon. His statements are no different than those of the people who would make fun of young ladies because of their hair style or tell racial jokes to get a laugh at the expense of others.
It’s time for Pitts to walk his talk; if he can’t then maybe he should find another profession. Disagree if he wants and tell us why. He doesn’t believe in demons or demon possession; that’s fine. He thinks that deep down inside, the Manifested Glory Ministries members actually dislike gay people; OK, find some evidence.
But if all he can do is make fun of their beliefs, then he shouldn’t get so upset when someone mocks him because of the color of his skin. Just tell your children it’s OK; after all, it was just in fun.
