BIKINIS: Using beauty to sell is nothing new

DENNIS HAGAN; Enumclaw

I am sure I am not the only one who noticed the Looking Back picture Thursday. I wonder if, on July 4, 1947, people reacted to the “bathing beauties” advertising the Pacific Air Exposition like they have to the bikini-clad fireworks salesgirls in Puyallup?

It looks like to me that the idea of using beauty to sell, no matter how they are dressed, has been going on for some 62 years. Why don’t the complainers take their children to the beach or find something else to complain about?

Some things never change.
