MILITARY: Pullout saves money, lives, grief
Last updated: July 5th, 2009 12:23 AM (PDT)

I have a simple idea.

Our foreign military presence overseas is causing other countries to dislike our foreign policies. I propose that we pull our entire military presence out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany and all other parts of the world and bring our troops home.

This would help solve several issues we are facing. It would eliminate anti-American feelings about military presence in foreign countries. We can defend ourselves with our military at home.

Second, we could use the savings, which could be in the trillions over the next 10 years, to help fund health care, reduce the federal deficit, invest in alternative energy projects, etc. We could use the money at home to help all Americans have a better life.

Finally, by doing this, no more military personnel would have to die overseas. They could come home, be with their families, friends and neighbors and be defending our country at home.
