Here are just a few of the many federally supported free meal programs offered by community agencies and schools. Children ages 1 through 18 years old, regardless of income, can eat at the sites. Meals are generally first-come, first-served:

Metro Parks Tacoma sponsors free lunch weekdays noon to 1 p.m. and free snacks 4 to 4:30 p.m. at the following Tacoma sites now through Aug. 20, unless otherwise noted.

The University Place School District offers free meals Mondays through Fridays, now through July 24 at:

The Bethel School District offers free lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. weekdays at the following Spanaway-area schools now through Aug. 14:

The St. Leo Food Connection sponsors free lunches noon to 1 p.m. plus kids' games from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on weekdays now through Aug. 28 at the following sites:
