Re: “Bike lanes key element in ‘Complete Streets’” (editorial, 8-12).
Being a bicycle commuter for about four years, I really appreciate the interest in creating bicycle lanes. But we don’t really need bike lanes on arterials in North Tacoma. The side streets do quite well, except that some residential streets are so deteriorated that they will probably drive us to other routes.
South Tacoma (56th and 72nd streets) could really use bike lanes. It is not possible to use side streets.
Also, I would like to express my appreciation for the drivers in Tacoma. Most of the folks are really considerate of bicyclists.
