Ah, Seattle. I see Russell Investments finally got rid of that little blot on its letterhead (us). Now it can have a proper address in a real city. Why not pick up a surplus office tower in the bargain?
The employees? They don’t matter. They can commute or move to Medina or just quit, for that matter. After all, in a service industry, it’s not the staff that matters, it’s the building. The years (or decades) of hard work these people put into the company are moot. The toil to get through this recession? No big deal. The relationships the staff have with their worldwide clients? Totally replaceable (just promote some kid from the mailroom).
To the hundreds of employees who live in the Tacoma area: Stay here! Perhaps there’s a market for a new investment company that honors family ties and our local heritage.
