It isn’t until next summer, but the state Republican convention has already scored a pretty big speaker – former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

That’s what The Columbian is reporting. The convention is set for June in Vancouver.

Romney is a once and probably future candidate for the GOP nomination for president. Mid-year conventions are a typical time for candidates to make more-casual visits around the country but it isn’t often that the state scores a front-runner like this.
