Re: “Faith Q&A” (TNT, 9-26).
Did anyone read the answer that Syed E Hasan gave for the question (“Shouldn’t men and women have equal rights and privileges in a modern society?”) before it was printed?
His answer is a grand falsehood. The Koran may say that men and women should be equal, but anyone who is the least bit knowledgeable about Islamic culture knows that women in some Muslim countries have very few rights.
Do they enjoy wearing burqas covering them from head to foot? Do they enjoy staying home while their male counterparts go to school? Should a woman wearing pants be flogged and thrown in prison?
Would we be trying to liberate Muslim women if they were treated as well as Hasan tries to make us think? Would they want us to liberate them if they were being treated fairly and with respect?
The Middle East and other areas that subscribe to this baloney are living in the 8th century.
Reading this propaganda from a male Muslim makes me fear for our collective future, especially when newspapers are content to go along with his “interpretation.”
I am tired of political correctness when it comes to the extreme ways this religion is interpreted. This is another great example of the “dumbing down” of America.
