American values: Equality. Freedom. Opportunity. Pursuit of happiness. E pluribus unum. Diversity. Unity. Thirteen states united into one.
That’s it. That’s what America was founded on. Not Christian religion. Not wedge issues. Not “family values. “Not the “free market.” Not tax cuts for the rich.
If you truly believe in the founding principles of America, you have no choice but to vote yes on Referendum 71. If you don’t really believe in these principles – and many conservatives truly don’t – then you are still free (isn’t America great?) to vote your prejudice, bigotry and ignorance.
Of course, these very same “qualities” will blind you to the fact that you are actually a pretty lame “American.”
