HALLOWEEN: Where have the good times gone?

BOB WARFIELD; Lakewood

What has become of Halloween?

Thirty years ago, we used to get 30 kids. The neighborhood was alive with festive fun. This year, lights on, bags of candy loaded, and who shows up? One kid from our neighborhood (nifty costume, “Ninja Man”), and eight freeloaders from some event around the corner and up the road – none of whom live here, and only one of whom managed a costume.

Where’s Superman, Tinker Bell, Captain Crunch and Richard Nixon? And what’s become of all the good times that used to go with the fantasy run-up to the best night of the year?
