Tacoma: Two new traffic speed enforcement cameras rolling

Tacoma police activated two new speed enforcement cameras at 12:01 this morning.

One cameras is along the Bay Street curve at 2900 East Bay Street; the second is near North Orchard and 26th streets in the North End, near Downing Elementary School.

The first two weeks after the cameras go live will be a warning period. Owners of vehicles pictured speeding will receive a letter but no fine. On Dec. 2, owners will receive a citation for $101.

Tickets will be treated like parking infractions and will not go on the driver’s record.
