POLICE FUNERAL: Inconvenience posed by procession is gratefully tolerated
Last updated: November 20th, 2009 08:22 AM (PST)

Vince Baird’s Your Voice (TNT, 11-18) regarding the funeral processions for police and fire personnel was thoughtful and poignant. I appreciate the view of the editorial objecting to the length of the procession (11-12) – that was a touchy topic and took guts to write – but Baird is correct in his statements about being human, the grief process, and the shared and unique bond that develops in these trades.

In my informal office survey, all agreed that we willingly would be inconvenienced by a funeral procession, especially for someone who daily puts his or her life on the line to serve and protect.

I also want to honor The News Tribune for putting fallen soldiers on the front page. This is important for us to not forget or discount these courageous people. Thank you so much to all of the brave souls who serve this great country that we are so fortunate to live in.
