You guys are playing the final shows at the old Hell’s Kitchen before they move. (The venue will reopen at 928 Pacific Ave. in December.) Do you consider that a distinct honor that you’re sending the old venue off?

Oh, yeah, definitely, for lots and lots of different reasons. Just the memories and how many times we’ve played there, but also having known (booking agent) Flash (Connel) for so long and having played before he even had Hell’s Kitchen and he was booking bands in Tacoma.

He is just a really cool, honest guy and really fun to work with. … And Hell’s Kitchen is legendary.

Do you remember the first time you played there?

I don’t remember the very first Hell’s Kitchen show. I remember being really excited about it having lived so close to Tacoma for so long and having friends there.

Plus it’s Hell’s Belles playing at Hell’s Kitchen. It’s almost meant to be.

(Laughs.) Kind of appropriate.

Do you have specific memories of things that happened there?

There’s a lot of regulars that show up, which is great to see the same people that come to every show. That’s always cool, Tacoma people.

It feels kind of rough around the edges, kind of a tough club. But then you get in there, and every single person who works in that club is just a sweetheart – everyone. So it’s kind of funny that it has that image.

I think we kind of let our hair down a little bit when we’re there. It has that family feel to it more so than even clubs in Seattle.

What else is new for you guys?

Last New Year’s Eve we kicked off a thing we started doing called Highway to Black. In certain markets, certain places, we would start the set with “Highway to Hell” and then finish it with “Back in Black,” both records in their entirety from start to finish in order.

We don’t do them at every place, but we’re doing them a lot. They’re really fun shows. We do them occasionally still.

Are you doing them in Tacoma?

We’ve talked about it, but I’m not sure. I can’t say for sure what we’re doing in Tacoma. But they are fun shows.
