Re: “Expected budget shortfall grows” (TNT, 11-20).
Those “spend and tax” Dems are at it again, getting the state into a projected $2.7 billion shortfall and then talking about tax increases to fix the problem.
When are they going to learn that in tough economic times, everyone, including state government, needs to tighten their belts and stop wasting money? Of course, citizens receive dire warnings about essential services that will be cut if more money is not transferred from the pockets of businesses and individuals to state coffers.
What we don’t hear about is cutting back on waste, like the $620,000 public art project at a correctional center or excessive pension payments for former government officials that make them set for life.
Fellow Washingtonians, wake up. It’s time for a change in state government, and that change starts with an “R.”
