Loved Saturday’s insightful political cartoon with President Obama bombing Pearl Harbor over the caption, “The sneak attack on America.” Were there no cartoons available that day featuring the president with a Hitler mustache?
I look forward to submitting my cartoon with former President Bush and former Vice President Cheney crashing a jumbo jet into two tall buildings labeled “Civil Liberties” and “America’s Moral Standing.” Or maybe it’ll just be Cheney shooting some soldiers at Fort Hood with the caption, “So this is what military combat feels like?”
If you’re going to let a cartoonist exploit a national tragedy (and Pearl Harbor, like 9/11 and Fort Hood, certainly still qualifies), at least require the writer to offer some insight in his cartoon other than the stale accusation that the president is a foreign enemy of this country.
The lives lost 68 years ago this month shouldn’t be exploited so cheaply.
