SHOOTINGS: Public showed kindness, support

PAUL PASTOR; Pierce County sheriff

With dignity and formal honors the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department held its public memorial service on Tuesday for Deputy Kent Mundell.

Once again, law enforcement and fire service personnel from throughout Pierce County came together to mourn the passing of their own. And once again people from all walks of life sent cards and e-mails and lined the streets as the motorcade passed to show their support.

I am very grateful for the kindness and decency which everyone has shown to Deputy Mundell’s family and to the entire Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. The compassion and concern shown by the community is deeply appreciated and truly humbling.
