Tacoma lawyer and Gig Harbor resident Doug Cloud, a Republican, is again challenging Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Belfair, in the 6th Congressional District.

In his announcement release, Cloud says it’s time for a change from the 17-term Democrat.

“Norm Dicks has spent his career pushing for bigger government, higher taxes and tax-payer funded gifts to the politically well-connected,” he said. “These favors to special interests waste economic resources and reduce economic growth.”

This will be Cloud’s fourth run at Dicks, who beat him by 67 percent to 33 percent in 2008, 71 percent to 29 percent in 2006 and 69 percent to 31 percent in 2004.

The district represents northwestern Washington, dipping southward into the Kitsap Peninsula and Tacoma.
