SCHOOLS: Teachers care deeply about children
Last updated: February 5th, 2010 12:28 AM (PST)

I work as a guardian ad litem for the Pierce County Superior Court, advocating for the interests of children in divorce and custody cases. I often interview children at school because there is no direct parental influence and the kids feel comfortable there.

Without exception, the administrators, counselors and teachers with whom I have worked have been knowledgeable about the child and his or her situation, have enthusiastically assisted me in getting the information I need and have created a supportive atmosphere for my interviews. These are men and women who know your kids, like your kids, and are truly invested in their welfare and success.

A previous writer (TNT, 2-4) questioned whether or not the teachers are “passionate about their jobs.” From my personal experience, your public school staff and teachers are certainly passionate about the best interests of your children and they deserve your support.
