The leader of a criminal enterprise that cheated casinos across the nation, including the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, out of millions of dollars was sentenced Monday to five years, 10 months in federal prison.
Phuong Quoc Truong also was ordered to forfeit more than $2.7 million and to pay about $5.7 million in restitution.
Truong pleaded guilty last year in U.S. District Court in San Diego to conspiracy to participate in the affairs of a racketeering enterprise.
Federal authorities contend he oversaw the Tran Organization, which cheated casinos of more than $7 million between 2002 and 2007. Members of the organization bribed dealers to help conspirators win at blackjack and mini-baccarat.
More than 30 defendants have pleaded guilty in the enterprise.
