The Washington State Patrol was looking Tuesday for a driver who caused an accident on state Route 512 by cutting off a 23-year-old Tacoma woman, causing her to lose control of her car.
The Tacoma woman was driving west on state Route 512 near Steele Street about 1:30 p.m. when a red Ford Taurus or a similar vehicle cut in front of her, according to witnesses.
The woman lost control of the car, which rolled onto its top and blocked one left lane of traffic. The Taurus then crossed all lanes of traffic and left state Route 512 at the northbound Interstate 5 exit.
The Tacoma woman was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with serious injuries, the State Patrol said.
Three lanes of state Route 512 were closed for two hours while troopers and detectives investigated the scene.
Anyone with information on the driver of the red Ford Taurus was asked to call the State Patrol at 253-538-3240.
