Tacoma students can apply for 6 new scholarships

The College Success Foundation has announced six new college scholarships for Tacoma youth.

The CSF Leadership 1000 Scholarships – three funded by the City of Tacoma and three by Tacoma Public Utilities – will be awarded to six students for a maximum of four years and will be in amounts of up to $5,000 for each of those years.

Deadline to apply is May 1. Eligibility rules:

 • Students must be high school seniors in a Tacoma public high school, or college freshmen or college sophomores who have graduated from a Tacoma public high school, who intend to pursue or are already pursuing a degree in science, engineering or energy efficiency.

 • Eligible students must plan to attend or are already attending a two-year or four-year college in Washington state.

 • Students must be Washington state residents, have filed the FAFSA form for federal student aid and have demonstrated financial need. (For example, family income cannot exceed $62,000 for a family of three or $94,000 for a family of seven.)
