Poor weather conditions halted the search Sunday for a climber missing after an avalanche on Mount Rainier on Saturday morning.

Eleven climbers in several teams were caught in a slab avalanche at 4:45 a.m. on the Ingraham Direct climbing route on the mountain’s southeast side. Ten of the 11 have been accounted for, according to Mount Rainier National Park spokeswoman Patti Wold.

Two people pulled from the avalanche were in stable condition Saturday at Madigan Army Medical Center.

The missing man, who was climbing alone, is presumed dead. He did not fill out a registration card to ascend the mountain, and officials are trying to identify him, Wold said. An aerial search Saturday and did not spot the missing climber.
