Seattle Seahawks running back Quinton Ganther was arrested early Saturday morning in Sacramento on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Ganther was checked into the Sacramento County jail at 6:50 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol and released later in the day.
Ganther will be charged on two misdemeanor counts for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content level 0.08 percent or more.
Ganther’s bail was set at $1,482. He has a court date scheduled for Wednesday at 1:35 p.m. at the Sacramento County Courthouse.
According to a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, Ganther was taken into custody at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday in downtown Sacramento.
The Seahawks released this statement on the incident: “We are aware of the situation and in the process of gathering information. No further comment at this time.”
The 25-year-old Utah product signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks as a free agent in March, and is expected to compete for a roster spot at running back, providing the team with some versatility with his ability to also play fullback.
Ganther played last season for Washington, where current Seahawks running backs coach Sherman Smith served as offensive coordinator. Ganther started four games for the Redskins and finished with 201 yards and three touchdowns. He began his career in Tennessee, playing three seasons for the Titans.
