State tea party activists back Dino Rossi in Senate race

OLYMPIA – Some Washington state tea party activists have endorsed Republican Dino Rossi’s campaign against Democrat Patty Murray for U.S. Senate.

Among the small group of endorsers is Keli Carender, a Seattle blogger known as “Liberty Belle” who has been lauded as a national star of the tea party’s small-government campaign.

Murray and Rossi took the top two spots in last week’s primary. The third-place candidate was conservative Republican Clint Didier, who had some notable tea party support.

Didier has refused to endorse Rossi unless Rossi agrees to conservative positions on taxes, spending and abortions.

Rossi says he won’t submit to anyone’s demands. But Didier got about 13 percent of the primary vote, and those voters could be crucial to any Rossi hopes of winning.
