Mountaineers to offer first aid classes

The Tacoma Mountaineers will be offering classes on Mountaineering Oriented First Aid over the next several months.

The classes are designed for anyone who spends time in the outdoors and needs first aid training. Mountaineering Oriented First Aid is a 28-hour first aid course for the wilderness traveler. The course consists of lectures, demonstrations and practical experience, and includes Red Cross adult CPR and first aid certification.

The classes will be held:

 • Sept. 12 and 19, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and a field-trip Sept. 25-26.

 • Oct. 23-24 and Nov. 6-7, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

 • Jan. 9, 16, 23, and 30, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

No previous first aid or climbing experience is required. The course fee is $80 for members and $105 for nonmembers and includes the textbook.
