Tacoma police were searching Tuesday for a man and a woman who carjacked a woman at gunpoint, dropping her off in Point Defiance Park and stealing her car.

The victim, who was believed in her late 20s, was not hurt and told police she did not know the carjackers.

Police spokesman Mark Fulghum gave this account of what happened:

The woman was on the way to her car in a parking garage Tuesday when the man, armed with a gun, confronted her near South 10th Street and Pacific Avenue and demanded her car and keys.

He and his companion forced the woman into her car and drove her to Point Defiance. They went down Five Mile Drive, let the woman – her hands and feet tied with duct tape – out along a service road, then sped off.

Police were called about 12:20 p.m.

Officers searched for the two and the woman’s car – a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber with Washington license plate number 900 YZG.

The man was described as black, 20 to 25 years old, clean-shaven, short and pudgy. He wore a black beanie, sunglasses and a large fleece coat, Fulghum said.

The woman was described as white, 17 to 18 years old, short and thin. She had blond hair and blue eyes, wore a black hooded jacket and had black chipped nail polish.
