PULLMAN –Former Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti said Monday he has not spoken with Washington State athletic director Bill Moos about coaching the Cougars if Paul Wulff is replaced, but Bellotti stopped short of saying he had no interest in the job.
“I haven’t done that much studying on that job,” Bellotti said in a telephone interview.
“Bill and I are very close friends. If we talk about it at some point, that’s one thing, but we haven’t had any discussions.”
Asked if he would be interested in the WSU job if Moos contacted him, Bellotti said, “Well, I don’t know. That hasn’t happened, so I wouldn’t even conjecture if that would go.”
Moos was Oregon’s athletic director during most of Bellotti’s successful 14-year run as coach of the Ducks. Bellotti compiled a 116-55 record at Oregon from 1995-2008. The Ducks won two Pacific-10 Conference titles and played in 12 bowl games under Bellotti.
Moos, in his first year as AD at Washington State, has steadfastly maintained that he won’t make an announcement on Wulff’s future until the end of the season. The Cougars (2-9 overall, 1-7 Pac-10) finish the season Saturday against visiting Washington (5-6, 4-4).

The University of Alabama has fired an employee who played songs aimed at Auburn quarterback Cam Newton before the Iron Bowl. A spokeswoman said the part-time staffer was fired for playing the unauthorized songs “Take the Money and Run” and “Son of a Preacher Man” while the Tigers warmed up.
