A recovering heroin addict has pleaded guilty to giving her 12-year-old daughter a fatal dose of methadone.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Rosanne Buckner sentenced Jane Elizabeth Griffith, 48, to five years in prison after she entered a guilty plea Jan. 26 to one count of controlled substances homicide.
Her standard sentencing range was four years, three months to five years, eight months.
Griffith admitted she gave her daughter Jessica Griffith – who also went by Jessica Wood – some methadone after the girl complained of knee pain in October. The girl later died of an overdose.
Originally from Federal Way, the pair was staying temporarily in Northeast Tacoma at the time of the girl’s death.
