State Department of Corrections officials will decide today which prison they will house a mentally ill man who refers to himself as “the son of Satan.”
Jonathan D. Wilson, 26, was held in the Pierce County Jail through the weekend after he was found Saturday at Titlow Beach in Tacoma.
He escaped Friday morning from Western State Hospital, where he was involuntarily committed Jan. 18.
Corrections Department spokesman Chad Lewis said officials will consider all placement factors, including the appropriate security level needed and room availability.
Washington Corrections Center in Shelton is “a likely option,” Lewis said.
Wilson is also expected to undergo a hearing to determine whether he violated the terms of his confinement.
Susan Dreyfus, secretary of the state Department of Health and Human Services, which runs Western State, ordered a review of Wilson’s escape to be presented to her by Wednesday.
