Smoking materials left on a sofa sparked a fire inside a home on Tacoma’s East Side early Friday.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1600 block of East Wright Avenue just after 2:45 a.m., the Tacoma Fire Department reported.

They found flames coming from the front of the small house, doused them and vented the roof.

The two occupants got out safely. No injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $60,000 damage to the house and contents.
