SEATTLE — A taxi crashed into a Chase Bank branch at the Russell Investments Center in downtown Seattle late Thursday night.
The cab left a trail of debris after it hit the side of the building and plunged into the bank's lobby, said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Rick Price in live reports from the scene early Friday.
Larry Samson was working next door when he heard the crash and looked up to see a wall coming down.
"I was painting a door, inside, and I heard a loud bang, and I turned around and looked and saw Sheetrock falling down -- Sheetrock soot, metal frames -- and saw the cab driver getting out of the car," Samson said. "I was, like, wow!"
Though the collision left shredded metal and broken glass and stone in its wake, the driver appeared to have escaped serious injury, Price said.
Seattle police are investigating.
