Want to try your hand at paddling a dragon boat? Opportunities abound in the South Sound.
The Olympia Sea Otters have practices Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. at Swantown Marina, 1500 Marine Drive N.E., Dock A, Olympia. The first three times you paddle with the group are free. No registration in advance or experience are required. All equipment will be provided. All practices for the Tacoma Dragon Boat Association are open to the public and for paddlers of any experience, ages 18 and older. If you are younger than 18, a parent must accompany you on all paddles. The group practices Sundays at 3:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. The first three times you paddle are free. Paddles, life jackets and instructions are all available at the practice site, Johnny’s Dock Restaurant and Marina, 1900 E. D St., Tacoma. For more information, call 253-970-8322.
