Registration for the 2011 Ride Around Puget Sound closes Friday.
This year’s ride is Aug. 27-28, and starts and ends in Tacoma. Riders on the 170-mile course will wind their way south through Steilacoom, DuPont, Lacey and Olympia before stopping in Shelton. On the second day, the route goes through Allyn, Port Orchard, Manchester, Southworth, Ollala and Gig Harbor before returning to the finish at Tacoma Community College.
The total elevation gain for the ride is 9,000 feet. The cost for the two-day event is $95. Cyclists also can do the ride in one day. The ride is organized by The Capital Bicycle Club, Tacoma Wheelmen’s Bicycle, West Sound Cycling Club, B.I.K.E.S. of Snohomish County and Cyclists of Greater Seattle. Proceeds benefit the Bicycle Alliance of Washington.
