HEALTH CARE
Dr. Zhiyu Wang has joined Endocrine Consultants Northwest in Tacoma. He specializes in general endocrinology and metabolic disorders. Wang is board-certified in internal medicine and provides care for a wide range of conditions including diabetes, lipid disorders, osteoporosis and glandular disorders. He received his medical degree from Shandong Medical University, Jinan, China, and his Ph.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Wang completed his residency at Cleveland Clinic Health System and his fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
HIGHER EDUCATION
Calvin Pearson was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees of Bates Technical College for a five-year term. He is a commercial banking officer and vice president at Columbia Bank. Pearson serves on the board for The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation and the Economic Development Corporation for Tacoma Pierce County and also is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum and a past board member of South Sound Outreach Services and Communities in Schools.
REAL ESTATE
NAI Puget Sound Properties of Tacoma has promoted Cory Naber to senior associate. He will focus on tenant representation, leasing, purchasing and selling industrial properties. He has eight years of commercial real estate experience.
Marianne Barkman has joined Windermere Real Estate South in Renton as its branch manager. She has more than 25 years of experience in real estate sales and organizational development in the Seattle area. The Seattle King County Association of Realtors has presented Barkman with both a Realtor of the year award for her work in education, and a community service award for numerous neighborhood projects.
AWARDS/RECOGNITION
Janet Runbeck, RN, of Rotacare Free Clinic of Tacoma has written a paper titled “Rota Care Clinic – A Community-Based Partnership Caring for Uninsured Patients with Chronic Illness” that has been selected to be presented at the American Public Health Association’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C. It was selected from a number of submissions and was judged to be of high quality and interest by the assocation. The local clinic is a coalition of local agencies that helps to provide medical services for those who are uninsured.
The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers South Puget Sound recently announced new officers: Randy Melquist, president; Don Coplin, vice president, director, program chairman; Joe Newman, director of finance; and Kevin Gleim, national committee person and past president of the chapter and board of directors.
