A 21-year-old Orting-area man is in critical condition after nearly drowning while swimming in Clear Lake, according to Pierce County Sheriffs spokesman Ed Troyer.
Also according to Troyer:
The man was swimming with friends about 6:30 p.m. and went underwater. His friends pulled him ashore five or six minutes later.
A sheriffs deputy was nearby and administered CPR. The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup shortly after 7 p.m.
He probably hit some cold water, and it got him into some trouble, Troyer said, adding that alcohol was not involved.
