The League of Education Voters will sponsor a discussion on charter schools at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Evergreen State College’s Tacoma campus, 1210 Sixth Ave.

The meeting will be on the second floor, and child care will be provided.

Washington is one of few states in the country that don’t permit charter schools.

Both initiatives and proposals in the Legislature to enact a charter law have failed.

Charter schools operate with varying degrees of independence.
