Tacoma City Councilman Jake Fey has announced that he’s running for the Legislature again.
In a news release issued Aug. 18, Fey said he’s running for the seat being vacated by state Rep. Jeannie Darneille, who is leaving the House to make a Senate run. Darneille faces trial lawyer Jack Connelly, the only other declared candidate so far in the race for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Debbie Regala.
Fey has twice unsuccessfully run for the House, including a bid in the 27th Legislative District last year against eventual winner Laurie Jinkins.
In the release, Fey cited his “proven track record in Tacoma of facing tough economic struggles and budget cuts while maintaining his life-long passion and strong commitment to serve low-income families, seniors and local businesses will be invaluable at the state level.
“I will utilize the experience I have to fight for needed local transportation and infrastructure projects that will support our local economy,” he said.
Fey is the director of the Washington State University Energy Program and has served on the Tacoma City Council since 2006.
