Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 44-year-old Tacoma man with threatening a Tacoma Municipal Court judge.
Kenneth R. Bixby was arraigned Thursday on one count of intimidating Judge David Ladenburg. He was ordered held in the Pierce County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Court documents gave this account:
Bixby apparently became upset after appearing before Ladenburg on Aug. 10 in a domestic violence case.
Several threatening messages later were left on Bixby’s attorney’s voice mail. In the obscenity-laced messages, Bixby threatened to find out where Ladenburg lived and to kill the judge if he saw him on the street.
The threats were copied on to a CD, which was provided to police.
An officer read Ladenburg the quotes, and the judge said he felt threatened by them. Ladenburg believed the threats were made as a result of his rulings in Bixby’s case.
After his arrest, Bixby told investigators he’d been upset but did not plan to carry out his threats. He apologized.
