John White scored three touchdowns, Jordan Wynn passed for two scores, and Utah forced seven BYU turnovers to cruise to a 54-10 victory Saturday in Provo, Utah.

The loss snapped the Cougars’ four-game home winning streak and was their first to an in-state opponent since 2005.

BYU quarterback Jake Heaps, a graduate of Skyline High, threw a 32-yard second-quarter TD pass but also threw an interception and fumbled twice.

No. 6 Stanford 37, at Arizona 10: Andrew Luck threw for 325 yards and had both of his touchdown passes in the second half as gthe Cardinal (3-0 overall) pulled away from the Wildcats (1-2) in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.

At Illinois 17, No. 22 Arizona State 14: The Illini (3-0) sacked Brock Osweiler six times and turned one into a TD to beat the Sun Devils (2-1).

With Illinois trailing in the fourth quarter 14-10, defensive end Whitney Mercilus hit Osweiler in the back and knocked the ball loose to linebacker Ian Thomas. Four plays later, Nathan Scheelhaase hit A.J. Jenkins for a 16-yard touchdown that gave Illinois the win.

No. 23 Texas 49, at UCLA 20: Case McCoy passed for 168 yards and two touchdowns, and D.J. Grant caught his first three career touchdown passes as the Longhorns (3-0) routed the Bruins (1-2).

Richard Brehaut passed for 150 yards after Kevin Prince threw three interceptions in the first quarter for the Bruins, who won in Austin, 34-12, last season.

“In this kind of game, and in that kind of atmosphere, you can’t make the kind of mistakes we did,” UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said. “We just weren’t able to stop them. … We believe we still have the makings of a good team. We have enough character in the program to be a good team. There’s enough gumption among the coaches to … get that done.”

At No. 12 Oregon 56, Missouri State 7: LaMichael James ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns, including a 90-yarder, and the Ducks (2-1) cruised over the Bears (0-3). Darron Thomas threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Before the game, Oregon announced it had received a formal notice of inquiry from the NCAA regarding its use of recruiting services. The investigation was prompted by questions raised over a $25,000 payment Oregon made to Willie Lyles and Houston-based Complete Scouting Services.

“This notice has been anticipated and is simply the next stage of the process,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a statement.

At Southern Cal 38, Syracuse 17: Matt Barkley passed for 324 yards and a school-record-tying five touchdowns to five different receivers as the Trojans (3-0) beat the Orange (2-1).

Barkley was 26-for-39 passing without being intercepted.

Colorado 28, Colorado State 14: Tyler Hansen ran for two touc hdowns and threw for two more, and the Buffaloes (1-2) beat the Rams (2-1) for the fourth consecutive time in Denver.
