Fife police arrested a longtime Milgard Manufacturing employee Monday after he allegedly broke into a warehouse and destroyed equipment because he was angry about being reassigned at work.
The company still was adding up the damage; police Lt. Tom Thompson said the total could be more than $1 million.
The employee, a Spanaway resident who had been with the window-and-doors company for 30 years, had recently been reassigned, Thompson said.
He didnt like his reassignment, Thompson said.
Investigators think the man broke into the warehouse in the 900 block of 54th Avenue East overnight and backed a tractor-trailer into some equipment, destroying it and some inventory, Thompson said.
He did some extensive damage, he said.
The damage was discovered about 7 a.m. Monday. Investigators contacted the man at his home.
He confessed, Thompson said.
The man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of burglary and malicious mischief.
