West Pierce Fire & Rescue will host a dedication ceremony Oct. 18 for an artifact from the World Trade Center towers in New York.
Five firefighters from West Pierce brought the steel piece to the community last month.
The fire district, which covers Lakewood and University Place, was the fourth in the South Sound to receive an artifact from the towers, which were destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks 10 years ago.
West Pierce Fire & Rescue announced plans for the piece’s dedication ceremony Monday.
The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. at Station 31, 3631 Drexler Drive W., in University Place. The ceremony, which will be open to the public, will take place during a regularly scheduled commission meeting.
The piece will remain at the station on public display.
