SATURday’s highlights
Federal Way’s DJ May rushed six times for 137 yards and two scores to help the Eagles beat Spanaway Lake, 49-0, in Federal Way. The Eagles held the Sentinels to 102 yards of total offense.
South Kitsap’s Dakota Giddings won the 4A Narrows League boys singles tennis title with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Bellarmine Prep’s Connor Brown at the University of Puget Sound. Defending state champions John Stormans and Hunter Wood of Olympia won the doubles championship with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gig Harbor’s Jasper Vaughn and Bjorn Brynestad. The top four finishers advance to the West Central District meet in the spring.
Black Hills’ Jimmy Do won the boys singles and Chehalis’ Kenny Saari and Cody Schultz won the doubles at the District IV tennis tournament in Lacey.
Mount Rainier’s Megan Kawaguchi won the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley at the South Puget Sound League swimming meet to help the Rams take the team title at Rogers High School. Kentridge won two relays but finished a distant second in the team race.
Auburn Riverside’s Korey Krotzer (15 minutes, 43.3 seconds) and Mount Rainier’s Jordan McPhee (18:34.5) finished first to win the boys and girls races, respectively, at the SPSL 4A cross country meet. The Puyallup boys and Tahoma girls won team titles.
Lakes’ Izaic Yorks (15:19) won the boys race and Peninsula’s McKenzie Bravo (19:12.60) won the girls competition at the 3A SPSL 3A subdistrict cross country meet.
White River’s Marcus Dickson (15:55) won the boys race at the SPSL 2A subdistrict cross country meet.
Rogers’ Jordan Asher scored in the 65th minute as the Rams tied Beamer, 1-1, in girls soccer in Federal Way. Jasmine Brilliante scored for the Titans in the 19th minute.
