The judge in the Camille Love murder trial admonished her family Monday after they were heard praying for a conviction outside the courtroom.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Linda Lee asked family and friends of Love to be sensitive to their possible influence on jurors and told them “nobody wants a do-over” in the trial.
The judge’s comments came after a defense attorney in the case said the family was praying loudly and he was worried it could influence the jury.
Love, 20, was killed in February 2010 as she drove a car with her brother Josh in the passenger’s seat down Portland Avenue East in Tacoma.
Prosecutors allege someone pulled up alongside the siblings’ car at East 64th Street and opened fire, killing Love and wounding her brother. Police believe the gunman were after rival gang members and shot the Loves by mistake.
